No More Errands!

The last four photos from last Saturday's errand run. I edited 11 photos out of 85 taken, so the results were good! Take a guess who ran into another VW Beetle? It was a white one this time and I found it within the hour of the last one.  The last couple were pretty random last second shots. There is a metal post that sticks out of the sidewalk near a convenience store I frequent. It was being hit with some sun reflections from the windows across the street. The last one is the top of a wooden post. Leaves me with a smile. :)

Oscar Urges

While I usually don't tune into the Oscars, I decided to leave it on after I saw Will Ferrell and Zach Galifianakis present an award thinking the rest of the show might be as funny. I watched all the way up to Jean Dujardin winning the best actor in a lead role. I saw how emotional his wife was with true pride, and the look on his face while he was celebrating success at something he loved doing. (click here to watch) It was then that I decided if I want to experience that feeling, I should get to work. So here are four more photos from my trip around town yesterday. Enjoy.

Weekend Errands

While running a couple errands this afternoon, I ran into a beaut of a car, a Volkswagen Beetle.  I love that raw deep orange, its something you don't see that often. The last picture is of slick bike fender I took near home.

More Mardi Gras

Here are a few more photos from the Mardi Gras party I attended on Tuesday. Great drinks, great music, and great dancers!

Mardi Gras and More

Happy Mardi Gras everyone! Yesterday was Fat Tuesday and Kelly took me to one of the best Mardi Gras parties in Milwaukee at Turner Hall. A lot of dancing, and a couple drinks later and this is what I came out with. Some are from the Paul Cebar & Tomorrow Sound performance, and others are from outside Turner Hall. More tomorrow!

Photos Around the Home

Good Monday to you all. Last Saturday before we set out on a road trip to Madison, it was early afternoon. I knew that I wouldn't be able to take photos with the impending one hour car ride, and it was too beautiful and mild NOT to take out the camera. So I 'ventured' around the house and out into the backyard. It can be tough to try and see old things in a new way, but it also can be fun. Here are four photos from my walk around.

Last of my First

I had a great time shooting last Saturday in the Third Ward. I will be back soon due to all of the prime photo opportunities there. Until then, here is a five photo send off. I have a change of scenery planned for this weekend and am taking my camera. I am hopeful to catch some interesting shots! See you next week ;)

Third Ward Continued

I caught some interesting angles out at the National Warehouse Company Building in the Third Ward. I also snapped a couple good ones on the way there. Enjoy!

Third Ward: Moving Forward

Here are four more photos selected from last Saturday's shoot in the Third Ward. The first is a black and white of a rotating bridge down on the river, leading into Lake Michigan. I haven't seen many of these before, none in real life and thought that it was an interesting subject. Judging by the shape it was in, I doubt it was any longer in use. The second shot is pretty simple. I am at the bottom of a flag pole here and looking up. It was windy that day, but no flags were flapping on this deserted rope.

The third was one of my favorites from the shoot. I love vintage signage, and when I find it, I have to take a photo. I love the contrast of the strong red in the lettering compared to the peach color of the building. Lastly, the colorful photo on the bottom was taken at a shipping hub at what is now Milwaukee Blacksmith Company.

Thanks for checking in, and stay tuned. More to come soon!

Surroundings

Sunday again, and surprisingly I didn't spend it sleeping on the couch! Had a full day including brunch with some great friends, with some time to look through yesterdays shoot. I wanted to break things up a bit so I snapped some photos from where I am sitting right now. My desk isn't the roomiest space in the house, but I manage to make it comfortable. Here, I show you an assemblage project I did that is sitting right beside me; a view of my desk, and a note of inspiration from my favorite person in the world.

First Shoot in the Third Ward

It is Saturday, approximately 5:30pm. I had a great shoot this afternoon in the Third Ward of Milwaukee. The weather had me doubting how long I would be out there today, losing feeling in my fingers more than a few times. Dedication prevailed, as I took 350 pictures around the old industrial area of the Third Ward, within sight of the Summerfest Ground parking lots. I found a few places I never knew existed, and caught whatever I thought looked interesting along the way. In this post I captured a few bits of the old Glorioso's (an Italian grocer here in Milwaukee) Warehouse. I will be concentrating on working through these photos for a while, so sit back and enjoy!

Friday Night Snow

Here are a couple photos that I took tonight after the snow that we haven't seen in Milwaukee for quite a while. My new lens is treating me well! See you soon!

It's Been Awhile

Oh great, now I have that Staind song stuck in my head. Well I guess it hasn't been that long, but its time to post! Since last time I have a new lens in the arsenal I wish I would have had a long time ago. Its a 50 millimeter lens that I have been waiting on for awhile. It finally came, and if you're a photographer and don't have a 50mm, you should, and this is why. Anyways, when I received this lens in the mail, I took it out and started shooting around the house. This is what I came out with.

See you next trip!
